It's long been rumoured that some kind of convention would happen across the Anniversary weekend - and it's finally been announced. The new doctorwho.tv site have said:
To celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who, BBC Worldwide will bring thousands of the Time Lord’s fans together for a very special three-day event, across the anniversary weekend. The Doctor Who 50th Celebration Weekend will be held at ExCeL in London, beginning on Friday, 22 November, with tickets for over 15,000 fans.
More details about the Doctor Who 50th Celebration Weekend, including guests, intinerary, ticket prices and booking information will be revealed soon, alongside a host of other surprises. Fans should sign up to the doctorwho.tv newsletter to be the first to hear about plans for the celebration.Peter Davison mentioned the possibility of a convention over the Anniversary weekend so it's safe to assume that it will encompass both Classic and New Who - as it rightly should.
