"Patient Zero" Starring Matt Smith To Finally See the Light of Day...

Remember all the talk about "Patient Zero"?  The Screen Gems film starring Matt Smith, Stanley Tucci and Natalie Dormer was completed back in 2015 ... yet kept being dropped from the release schedule.  Well, it appears we will finally get to see it - in October 2018 as, according to a report on bloody-disgusting.com, "Patient Zero" will get a dvd and Blu-Ray release then.  It's also likely it will hit the VOD platforms (Netflix or Amazon Prime).  It's about time.

If you can't remember much about "Patient Zero" then the synopsis is below - and also check out the filming photos in our Gallery:
“An unprecedented global pandemic of a super strain of rabies has turned the majority of humankind into highly intelligent, streamlined killers known as ‘The Infected.’ One victim, Morgan (Matt Smith), who is asymptomatic and can communicate with the infected, leads the last survivors on a hunt for Patient Zero and a cure.”
Being a bit of a fan of Zombie films, I honestly can't wait.  "Patient Zero" was written by Mike Le and directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky.

First Look Image: Matt Smith and Stanley Tucci in "Patient Zero"

Courtesy of EW.com, we have the first official image from Mike Le's "Patient Zero", which has been confirmed to hit cinemas on 2 September 2016.

Matt will play "Morgan" who is "asymptomatic and can communicate with the undead":

“An unprecedented global pandemic of a super strain of rabies has turned the majority of humankind into highly intelligent, streamlined killers known as ‘The Infected.’ One victim, Morgan (Matt Smith), who is asymptomatic and can communicate with the infected, leads the last survivors on a hunt for Patient Zero and a cure.”

Director Stefan Ruzowitzky said: “The great days of zombies are a little bit over. It’s time for something new.” He added that the "infected" are "much sexier" than the undead: "They have a lot of energy, they’re fast, they’re good-looking. Not those walking vegetables.”

Let's hope for more photos in the upcoming months - and I will just say..."look at those muscles..."

"Patient Zero" - Matt Smith and Natalie Dormer - Release Date Revealed

Sony Screen Gems have announced that Mike Le's "Patient Zero" starring Matt Smith and Natalie Dormer will hit cinemas on 2 September 2016.  A slightly updated plot synopsis has also emerged:
After a pandemic outbreak of a mutated form of rabies results in most humans being turned into a highly intelligent new species known as "The Infected," a human survivor, Morgan (Matt Smith), with the ability to talk with the "infected," investigates these species and pursues "Patient Zero" to find an antidote to save humanity, including his infected wife. Aiding Morgan on the mission to find Patient Zero is CDC virologist Dr. Gina Rose (Natalie Dormer), leading the scientific research efforts, while Colonel Knox (Clive Standen) is in charge of the military front.
Obviously, 2 September 2016 is the US release date - hopefully the UK won't be too far behind.

Production begins on Mike Le's "Patient Zero" starring Matt Smith

"Patient Zero" - the Mike Le scripted film about a global pandemic starring Matt Smith begins production in London today.  Joining Matt in the cast are Natalie Dormer ("Game of Thrones"), Stanley Tucci ("The Hunger Games") and Clive Standen ("Vikings").

Oscar winner, Stefan Ruzowitzky is set to direct the screenplay and "Patient Zero" will be produced by Vincent Newman ("The Betrayed"):
In Patient Zero, an unprecedented global pandemic of a super strain of rabies has resulted in the evolution of a new species driven by violence. An inexplicably immune human survivor with the ability to communicate with this new species must spearhead a hunt for Patient Zero in order to find a cure to save his infected wife and humanity.
We can add "Patient Zero" to the list of films starring Matt Smith that we're (im)patiently waiting for: "Lost River", "Terminator: Genisys" and "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies".  We're in for a treat or two by the sounds of it.

Best of luck to all involved with "Patient Zero" - and we'll keep you updated with further news when it emerges.
