At the BFI Press Screening of "Last Christmas" this evening, the title of episode 1 of Series 9 was revealed as...

You can almost hear the creaking of the internet as wild theories and deductions start to spew forth. It does rather lend itself to the obvious possibility though...

Doctor Who Global Tour - "Deep Breath" BFI London Screening
Well, it was sort of odds-on that the BFI would be involved. It is a good venue - even though I think it's a wee bit small now for this kind of thing. However, Thursday 7 August 2014 is the date and 6.30pm is the time. So, with the Cardiff premiere taking place the same day at 12.15pm, they may well need a quick getaway to zip to London.
As usual, the BFI will hold a ticket ballot. There are 2 separate ballots - for BFI members and for non-members.
Ahead of our major season ’Sci Fi – Days of Fear and Wonder’ commencing in October, the BFI is proud to present the feature-length premiere episode of the new series of Doctor Who entitled Deep Breath. Written by Steven Moffat and produced by Nikki Wilson, this will see Peter Capaldi launch as the 12th Doctor, one of TV’s most iconic roles, alongside Jenna Coleman as his companion Clara.
Tickets £16, concs £12 (BFI Members pay £1.50 less).
Tickets to this event will be balloted and you can apply for up to two tickets online at any time before 20:30 on Sunday 20 July. At that point tickets will be allocated to applicants at random to ensure the fairest allocation possible. All applicants will be informed if they’ve been successful by Thursday 24 July.
Any unclaimed ballot tickets will go on general sale at 11.30 AM on Monday 28 July. For more information and the ballot links simply go to the BFI Website.

BFI Screenings - Ninth Doctor Stories and Date Announced
The BFI have announced that they will be screening a two parter to celebrate the Ninth Doctor's era. "Bad Wolf" and "The Parting of the Ways" will be screened on Saturday 24 August 2013 at 2pm. Guests are yet to be announced.
Ticket allocations have been switched to a ballot system. BFI Champions will be able to enter the ballot from Monday 1 July and BFI Members from Tuesday 2 July. The ballot will close on Friday 5 July with successful entrants notified on Monday 8 July. Any unclaimed tickets will be released for sale on Saturday 13 July 2013.
If you're unsuccessful in obtaining a ticket then it's worth keeping an eye on the Official Doctor Who Facebook page and twitter account as they usually run a competition nearer the time to win tickets for the events.
Due to guest availability, the Eighth Doctor event will take place later in the year - presumably September.

Video - BFI "Robots of Death" Event
Last month, the BFI celebrated the Tom Baker era of "Doctor Who" by screening "Robots of Death" and having a question and answer session with Tom Baker, Louise Jameson and Philip Hinchcliffe afterwards. Video of the session is now available.
For the full edit of the session you'll need to go to the BFI site but they've also put a "highlight" on youtube where Tom Baker talks about being the Doctor:

BFI Doctor Who at 50 to screen "Robots of Death"
"Robots of Death" will be screened at the BFI on Saturday 20th April 2013 at 2pm. Guests are yet to be announced. Tickets will go on sale to Champion Members on Monday 4 March 2013 and to Standard BFI Members on Tuesday 5 March 2013. Non BFI members can purchase tickets from Tuesday 12 March 2013.
This one will definitely be worth it - how can you pass up the chance to see the beauty of the Robots on the big screen? Not to mention the terrific D84 with his classic line of "please...do not throw hands at me..."

Monday Updates
A couple of things going on today in the world of "Who". First up, the BBC have released the new Doctor Who Experience banner as a wallpaper (right click and open in new tab/window for full size version). If you want a different size then just email me and I'll see what I can do:
Also, the BFI recently held the first of their 50th Anniversary events with a Celebration of the First Doctor. They screened "An Unearthly Child" and held a panel discussion afterwards. They've been good enough to upload the discussions to youtube:
As far as site updates go, keep your eyes peeled - we'll shortly be launching a new competition...
